Cross Country - AA

The 2001 State Cross Country meet was held October 20th at the Elks Golf Club in Rapid City. The AA Girls competition began at 2:00pm MDT.16 schools have runners in the Class AA race with 112 runners entered. The overall State Class AA record for girls is 14.07 set in 1992 by Anne Vollmer from Rapid City Central. Last year's Class AA champion, Steph Richardson of RC Stevens, graduated, so a new Champion was crowned this year.Follow the menu expansion to "4000 meters" for individual competition to "standings" for team rankings and scrapbook for photos or use the link

Watertown wins State AA Team Cross Country title

Check out  the photos below to find out who crossed the line 1, 2 & 3. Big team upset as Watertown takes 1st with a combined total time of 1:23:23.85 and defending Team State Champions from Stevens HS take second with a combined time of 1:23:37.94. Stevens was looking to set a consecutive state team title record but was denied. 

Senior Amy Lindner from Sioux Falls O'Gorman heads for the finish line and takes the State title in 15:49.68.
Rapid City Central's Nichol Deckert took 2nd in 15:55.84
Ramsey Kavan from Yankton finished 3rd in 16:06.60

The race is underway!

Teams arrived at the Elks Friday afternoon for warm-up running, course surveying and souvenir shopping as participants purchased state jerseys to mark their participation in the event. Runners were scheduled from 3- 7p.m. for on-site preparation.
