SDHSAA holds state competitions for 9 athletic categories. The Tennis tournament is held in October. Class AA, A and B Cross-Country meets are run in October.  Dance and Cheer competition is held in November. Class AA, A and B Volleyball championships are determined at final games also in November. Class A and AA Gymnastics team, individual and an all-around champion are named in February. Class AA, A, and B Basketball championships are held in March. In May, AA, A and B Golf state championships are held. Finally, the Class AA, A, and B state Track meets are run in late May.
