First State Competition for
Competitive Cheer and Dance
Yankton’s Summit Center is the site for the first ever state
competition for cheer and dance. The competition will be held on
Saturday, November 10th, starting at 12:00 noon. Competition will be
held in four divisions in cheer: stunting/tumbling,
stunting/non-tumbling, non-stunting and co-ed. Competition will be
held in three dance categories: pom, jazz/kick and
funk/hip/hop. There will be both large and small group competition
in each division. Each school may enter one team per division.
To qualify for the state tournament,
each school must compete in a minimum of 2 competitions during the
regular season. There will not be sub state qualifying for the
2007-08 season. Plaques and medals will be given to the first and
second place teams in each division.
The state meet will be a one session tournament with adult tickets
at $8.00 each and the student ticket at $5.00 each. For complete
